Aim

The Nagaland Association of Tour Operators (NATO) aims to promote and develop Nagaland as a world-class, sustainable, responsible, and community-driven tourism destination by uniting tourism stakeholders, advocating for industry growth, upholding professional standards, and creating meaningful economic opportunities for local communities while preserving the State’s rich cultural heritage and natural environment.


Objectives

  1. Promote Nagaland as a Premier Tourism Destination by showcasing its unique culture, heritage, festivals, wildlife, adventure, cuisine, and authentic village experiences to domestic and international markets.
  2. Represent and Protect the Interests of Tour Operators by serving as the collective voice of registered tour operators and advocating policies that support the sustainable growth of the tourism industry.
  3. Support Sustainable and Responsible Tourism by encouraging environmentally responsible practices, cultural preservation, ethical tourism, and community participation in tourism development.
  4. Strengthen Community-Based Tourism by empowering local communities, homestays, guides, artisans, and entrepreneurs to actively participate in and benefit from tourism.
  5. Maintain Professional Standards and Ethics by promoting integrity, transparency, quality service, fair business practices, and professionalism among all members.
  6. Enhance Skills and Capacity Building through training programmes, workshops, certifications, familiarization tours, and knowledge-sharing initiatives for tourism and hospitality stakeholders.
  7. Collaborate with Government and Industry Partners by working closely with the Government of Nagaland, Government of India, tourism boards, NGOs, educational institutions, and private sector organizations to develop tourism infrastructure and improve visitor experiences.
  8. Promote Tourism Marketing and Branding through participation in travel fairs, roadshows, digital marketing campaigns, media collaborations, and destination branding initiatives.
  9. Facilitate Ease of Travel by assisting visitors with travel information, permits, logistics, transportation, accommodation, and authentic tourism experiences across Nagaland.
  10. Encourage Innovation and Entrepreneurship by supporting new tourism products, experiential travel, eco-tourism, cultural tourism, adventure tourism, culinary tourism, wellness tourism, and other emerging travel segments.
  11. Preserve Nagaland’s Cultural and Natural Heritage by encouraging tourism practices that safeguard traditional knowledge, indigenous customs, biodiversity, historical sites, and sacred landscapes.
  12. Create Networking and Business Opportunities by fostering partnerships among tour operators, hotels, homestays, transport providers, guides, event organizers, and other tourism stakeholders.
  13. Support Government Policies by complementing tourism-related policies, regulations, and development programmes that contribute to the long-term growth of the tourism sector.
  14. Promote Research and Tourism Development by collecting industry data, encouraging research, documenting best practices, and recommending policy improvements for the advancement of tourism in Nagaland.
  15. Build International Recognition by positioning Nagaland as one of India’s leading experiential travel destinations through strategic collaborations with national and international tourism organizations.
